Before the Limit/Antes del Limite by Claudia Guadarrama documents the struggle faced by Central American immigrants crossing Mexico’s southern border en route to the United States. Guadarrama is a dedicated photojournalist whose work presented in Before The Limit won both the Inga Morath Award and Canon Prix Femme at Visa Pour L’Image.

To create this project Guadarrama traveled on freight trains, took paths deep through the forest, and visited the shelters and detention centers where immigrants, whose journeys have ended in capture or tragedy, find themselves. She provides an intimate and moving portrait of the struggle Central American immigrants face long before they reach the border with the United States.

Before the Limit includes a powerful and poetic forward by Joachim Fuentes and an interview with Guadarrama by Svetlana Bachevanova about her experience shooting the project.

Before The Limit represents one of the first high-resolution digital photo books to be available for Apple’s iPad.

The text in the book it is in English and Spanish.
